Grey Owl in snow – Joe Rush

Black & White Category

1st Place

Arctic Terns – Duncan Cooke

This is an old image taken with my first DLSR, Canon 400 and kit lens, and does have some quality issues, but I really like the composition of the two birds interaction.

In the colour version the quality problems are more obvious, but most of those are lost in the conversion to B/W.

Acorns – Duncan Cooke

Autumn produces some great colours and that’s what I tried to capture with this image.

Using a tripod allowed a higher f stop and greater depth of field and meant a slow shutter speed wasn’t a problem.

2nd Place

Aldingham sunset fantasy – James Marsden

The sunrise was taken at Aldingham Beach.

I have used photoshop to add the tree and the water using the software and a tree used in a old picture i had taken to create the shot.

Great Gable – Duncan Cooke

Wasdale, one of my favourite places in the Lake District.

The light dusting of snow picks out the detail in the rock formations and the Winter light gives great clarity.
