loch-lochen Loch Lochen is a small body of water in Glencoe, such a quiet and serene place to stroll around, with Glencoe South mountain range in the background.
black-rock-cottage Black Rock Cottage, on this particular day the mist had rolled in hiding Buachaille Etive Mor mountain.
buachaille-etve-mor Buachaille Etive Mor mountain is prominent in the background of this gorgeous waterfall on Ranoch Moor.
ranoch-moor-cottage Ranoch Moor cottage, on this particular day it was raining on and off, so waited for over an hour to capture this particular image, the stream leads you down to the river and the cottage beyond.
2nd Place – John Harrison
Fir tree in the Snow. Fir tree in the Snow.

I nearly missed this shot as the sun moves quicker than you think on a winter’s morning.

By the time I got camera out of rucksack and moved close enough to capture it the sun was nearly too high. I think I got two or three shots and the light was gone!

Holly in the rocks. Holly in the rocks.

I intend one day to go back and retake this photo as this version is not totaly sharp. My excuse is that it was blowing a gale when I took it, everything was moving including me! I still like the picture though, it tells a story of the old tree bent but not broken by the harsh mountain weather.

Birch in sunlight. Birch in sunlight.

Another opportunist shot, there were not many breaks in the clouds but one briefly lit this birch.

The image is a small area cropped from the original, I was a bit too far from the action but took it anyway. Cropping concentrates on the bet bit of the image.

Birch and heather. Birch and Heather.

Birches are one of my favourite trees, the white bark shines even in poor light and they are colourful in all seasons. A grey autumn day is brightened by the solitary birch surrounded by pink heather.
